EAESP 2008 General Meeting15th General Meeting of the European Association for Experimental Social PsychologyJune 2008, Opatija, CroatiaReport by Martyn Barrett (Editor, British Journal of Developmental Psychology)Brian Parkinson and myself attended the 15th General Meeting of the European Association for Experimental Social Psychology which took place in Opatija, Croatia, in June. This was the largest and most well-attended conference in the history of EAESP. We represented both the British Journal of Developmental Psychology and the British Journal of Social Psychology and there were numerous expressions of interest in submitting manuscripts.
The area in which social psychology and developmental psychology overlap - especially the development of intergroup attitudes and relations through childhood and adolescence - is a growing area of research and there were discussions at the meeting about forming a new society to support research and dissemination specifically within the field of developmental social psychology. A small working group, of which I am a member, has been established to explore the possibilities.
