Appeals Process for Rejected Manuscripts

Authors who feel that their manuscript has been unfairly rejected because an important aspect was misunderstood or overlooked by the reviewers may appeal to the Action Editor who may then decide to reconsider his or her decision.

In cases of dispute, the appeal may be referred to the main Editor of the Journal, and if a satisfactory resolution is still not achieved, the Editor may refer the appeal to the Chair of the Journals Committee who will act as arbitrator. The decision of the Chair of the Journals Committee is final.

If you wish to dispute an Action Editor's decision, you must contact the Journals Department in the first instance. Please include the following information:

  • the name of the journal
  • the manuscript reference number
  • the grounds for complaint
